Leadership Merit getting involved Kapa Haka blogpost #5

On Friday kapa haka practised in the hall, we practised some songs and the actions to some of them. I have shown excellence by contributing to the wider school

Head boy Leadership blog post #5

As Head boy part of my role is being in the student council and on Wednesday we had our first meeting. We had to share why we are in the student council. Then we also shared what we want to do in the student council. I have shown active thinking by contributing to class/ group discussions.

Leadership Merit getting involved Kapa Haka blogpost #4

On Friday kapa haka practised in the hall. We sang ka waiata and while everyone sang other songs Cormac and I practised the calls with Mr Brown. Then we went back in and sang a few songs. I have shown excellence by contributing to the wider school.

Today the heads and deputy's meet with Mr Ladbrook about running student council. We had watched a video about running a meeting and we learnt some strategies. I have shown active thinking by contributing to my group.

Head Boy Leadership Merit Blog post #2

As head boy I had to open assembly on Monday, I welcomed everyone to assembly and then I helped Mrs Martin hand out some awards. I have shown active thinking by making a speech with about 5 minutes to practice.

Gardening club Leadership Getting Involved Merit Blog post #3

On Wednesday 9 Year 7/8's from the gardening club went to the Woolston club to set up for the oderings school garden show we went over with Mr Rush and Mr McAven and we all set up our Hansel and Petal exhibition. On Thursday night the boys went to the prize giving and we got a silver award. On Friday some of us went in the morning and the other half went in the afternoon to talk to members of the public about it. I went both afternoons this weekend to help out. I have shown excellence by representing Oaklands positively.

For gardening club we have been getting ready for the Garden show we have been painting a lot but now we are doing our last touches. The garden show is next week and we are nearly ready for it. I have shown excellence by being a role model to the wider school.

Gardening club Leadership Getting Involved Merit Blog post #1

For gardening club we are getting ready for the garden show. We are making a house with big pipes painted like a candy cane. We are also putting red and white flowers in them. And the roof will be made of cardboard tubes painted like candy canes. I have shown excellence by contributing to the wider school.

Merit Must do - 5

A few weeks ago the Kauri team had our athletics I was in the 12 year old boys and I was number one so I had to do all of the field events first. I was resilient because I had to do everything first and I tried my best in every thing.

Merit cando #9

For pals I have been refereeing football for Kauri and Logan and I have been doing yr 4 and yr6 but the yr6s never show up and one day with the yr 4s. I showed integrity because I was unbiased and I was fair when something happened.

Merit Can do #10

Today for Gardening club we were pulling out weeds near the senior Playground. We were resilient because we were the only people outside because the weather was bad and we stayed out until Mr McAven told us to go inside because it was about to rain and hail. I was also trustworthy because I turned up on time ready to go.

On Tuesday on the way to tech I was being a role model to others because Mel and I were just talking to each other quietly and we used our manners getting on and off the bus.

Merit Cando #8

On Thursdays I have been doing gardening club and we have made a path from one of the entrances to the courts. I was trustworthy by turning up every week and doing what I had to do.

Merit Cando #7 Pals

For pals the boys ref football for the Kauri students and the Girls do games with kakano students On Tuesdays and Thursdays I ref football with Logan we ref the Year 6's and the Year 4's. And on Tuesday I showed respect by listening to both teams when there were some disagreements. And we sorted them out.

Merit Cando #6

On Friday I had pals we were doing small field football for Kauri and we had two teams there were lots of kids wanting to play so we made the teams even and we played, Scott and I were playing and being the refs.

I showed respect by being kind to the kids and changing things if we had to.

Merit Must do #3

A few weeks ago I played in a turbo touch tournament at Hillmorton High after the Kauri cross-country.
I was in team one and we played against Rowley and Hillmorton.

 I showed respect by being kind to the other team if we won or lost.

Merit Can do #5 Canta maths

For canta maths, we have been doing google forms with questions from a few years ago. I showed resilience by work through the questions when they were hard.

On Friday I had pals we played small field football. I showed resilience by helping the kids even when they were being stupid. We also showed active thinking by making the game more fun. The kid loved the game.
